FAREWELL TO THE TROOPS.

SATURDAY NIGHT'S "SEND-OFF."

The committee of the farewell to the Expeditionary Force met yesterday, Mr J. J. Dougall presiding.

A telegram was received from Mr Massey stating that he would endeavour to have the Ministry represented at the farewell.

Sir Joseph Ward wrote etating that he would be present if at all possible.

Colonel Smith wrote advising that general permission would be granted to the troops to attend the farewell. Messrs O. J. baiter and O. Anderson were appointed honorary auditors to the fund.

A balance of £7 3s 6d, left over from the citizens' social to Territorials ■was handed to the fund by Mr W. \V. Charters.

Mr S. A. Staples said that the decoration work waa well in hand, and good offers of help had been received from Mr R. Nairn and Mr W. Jones.

Mr Nordon said it was intended, if possible, to present the souvenir flag at the farewell.

Captain McGee said that Mr R. C. Bishop, of the Gas Company, had offered to put in all the fittings free. Arrangements had been made for manning the doors and for erecting ca* platform.

Mr R. D. Vincent reported that the programme had been practically arranged. The WooLston Band had offered to play, a piano roitid be lent by Webley, Sons, and Gofton, and the Christchurch Liedertafel would sing.

It was decided that all contributors of £1 Is to the fund be given a ticket for the function.

The secretary stated that tickets •were now on sale, and that Jadiea would be -welcomed to the farewell as well as men.

Messrs A. C. Maxwell, A. M. Loasby, and J. B. Merrett "were appointed members of the committee. ; The men will march from the camp at Addington to tbe King Edward Barracks, headed b.y the Regimental Bard. . A meeting of the "Send-off" Committee will be held at the City Council Chambers to-morrow at 12.30 p.m.
