WHAT A LABOUR LEADER SAYS OF IT.

Tho Hbn. W. M. Hughes, ex-Federal Attorney-General, iv a letter to the Press referring to the Beef Trust, says: —"'Here is tho greatest and the most powerful corporation in tho world in our midst. Besides having a capital of £200,000, tho company is composed of the Swift family, and is financed by the Swift' Company to the extent of £500,000. The evidenco shows that already, it is one of the chief exporters of meat, and very little time, must elapse beforo it will bo the chief and only exporter from Australia. It will so control the local market as to fix the price of stock and meat for local consumption, and tho price of stock will decrease and the price of moat increase. Stock-raisers and tho public must pay toll to this great Trust and be powerless in its grip." •
