THE PROPOSED HEADQUARTERS BUILDING. ,
, The General Committee of the St. John Ambulalice Association mot lastnight. Present—Mrs H. H. Smith, Miss Guruiingtou, Licut.-Colonel WThomas, Lieut. - Colouel CressweU, Dr. liiglis, Dr. J. R. Thomas, Messrs Arthur E. G. Rhodes, P. Riches, W. "NY. McKinney, H. Thomas, W. R. L. Esselborn, and C. J. Treleaven (secretary). Apologies -were received from the Hon. R. Heaton lthodes, Dr. Louisson, and Mr H. JHoddinott. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Mr Arthur E. G. Rhodes was elected chairman for the y«*r: Lieut.-Colonel Cressweli. deputy-enairnian; Lieut.Colonel W. Thomas, hon. treasurer; ana -Uγ T. H. Caverhill, auditor. The following were elected the Executive Committee:—Airs H. H. Smith, Dr. lnghs. and Messrs H. Thomas, and "\V. W. McKinney. CORRESPONDENCE. The proprietors of tho Rink Stables wrote, stating that the demands for the use of the ambulance alter 9 p.m. were increasing. They enclosed a return, showing that for April, -May, and June there had been 25 cases of the ambulance beinji required after 9 p.m. They suggested that between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. they should receive 6s per hour, instead of 4s. Tho executive was asked to report on the matter at nest meeting. Jhe Town Clerk wrote that the Association's offer to supply an outfit for the .Municipal Baths at a price quoted was considered by tho Baths Committee, which decided to take no action in the matter, as tiie custodian had eveiything necessary. ' • Dr. Inglis remarked that when he brought the matter up first,-the custodian had -informed' him that he had nothing. Ho (Dr. Inglis) did not know whether the custodian had been eupplied with anything since. It -was decided to receive the letter. Tho Town Clerk wrote, stating that tho Mayor had granted . the Association's request to hold its annual sale of badges in tho streets on December oth, 1914.—Received. RECORDS OF SERVICE. . Tho secretary read -the records of the M-rvice rendered to tho Association by Lieut.-Colonel W. Thomas, Dr. J. R. Thomas, Dr. Louisson, Lieut.-Colonel Cressweli, Dr. Inglis. Mrs Arthur •' E. G. Rhodes, Mrs F. Pratt, and Mr AY. W. .McKinney. He stated that it was intended to forward the records to St. John's Gate, with a request that they should receive favourable consideration. They were approved. . HEADQUARTERS BUILDING. The chairman 6aid that it was desirable that the committee should discuss matters connected with the proposed headquarters building. Lieut.-Colonel Cressweli asked if-any information was available as to tho style of building proposed. . Th chairman said that they, had a rough" sketch of the building erected by tho Auckland Association. He thought the best thing to be done was to appoint a small committee to go into.tho question and report to tho . General Committee as soon .as possible. .Dr. J. R. Thomas asked if it was intended to go in for anything big at first. ■ ■■" '.'■' The chairman said that tho front portion of the building ought to be erected —it would spoil the whole effect if a paltry building was put in front. Whether they could get the money- or not was a different thing, but thej ought to aim high. The. front portion ought to be permanent, asxd extensions could be made at the back. , ,;■-■• It was decided to refer the matter to the executive, which was asked to report as goon as possible.
