AWARDS GRAFTED. The Court of Directors of the Royal Humane Society mot yesterday afteciiooo to consider applications for awards. There were present at the mooting— Colonel Slater (in tho chair). Canon Bean, Dr. C. J. Russell, and Messrs R. C.. Bishop, J. A. Frostick, and H. B. Kirk. Tho following cases wero .considered :— ■ • ■ j DROWNING CASES. . \ Case of Cora Maney (14) and Leila Money (12), for rescuing Ruth McKay ..(9) from drowning at Waipawa on January 30th, 1914. . A. framed certificate trae Awarded to each girl. Case of Michael Fahey Boyle- (38) foi attempting to rescue Albert Charles "VVyafct (8) from drowning at Daxgavillo on January 19th, 1911. A letter, of commendation was awarded. ,'. ' Case of, William Guy Edwards (20), for rescuing Frederick Arthur Morgan (10) and to rescue William Teviofcdale (40) from I'ox■ton on May Ist, 1914. - A bronze modal was awarded. It was resolved to invite William Teviotdalo'a relatives to make An application for an in niemoriam certificate. ' • , Case of Joseph Pou (26) for rescuing ten persons from drowning at'Otama, Kuaotunu, on December 26th, 1913. The directors decided to award a gold medal. ■ ;Casp of John Robert Jeronison (42), for rescuing Thomas Simmbnds (o?) ! from drowning at Wellington on January 23th, 1914. . .••■■.:■■ A letter of commendation was awarded. - . j Case of George Hamorton (21), for ! rescuing Arthur King (7) from, drown- ' ing at Mercer on February 18th, ,1914. . , - I A letter of, commendation was granted. Case of Joseph Pcreira (35), for Jittempting to rescue Thomas.Lotto <4ff from drowning at Ocean Beach, I>unediOi on January 18tb, 1914 . .; A bronze medal was awarded. Caso of James Gunn (26), for resciiing Thomas E. Haulon and attempting %o rescue Arthur Polo from drowning at'Tβ Araroa on May. Bth, 1914. • A bronze medal was awarded. Case of John Patrick Culbano <M), for attempting to reecuo William Mas«ey (2S) from explosion and firo at Soltar Works, Freeman's Bay, on July 2oth, 1913. . . ; "A silver medal was awarded. LtFE-SAVING BY. CHILDREN. Dr. Russell suggested that tho Society might encourage lifβ-aaving work, i among children by holding carnivals and competitions. I It was decided to allow the matter Jto stand over until tho first meeting i after the annual meetiug. J Frostick said it was doubtful ! whether the Society could giro effect to tho. sugEostions without an altera- . tion of the constitution. I Mr Bishop said tho Society might clash with tho work of tno Life-sanng Association if it adopted the suggesANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting wan fixed for ' Friday, July 24th, at 4 p.m. at the i Chamber of Commerce.
