Mr D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied tho following weather summary ana forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday:*— - ■- Wet and gloomy weather has been experienced generally, with northerly winds, strong-to gale. The barometer has. fallen low in the South. .•.""' Present indications arc for high northerly winds, changing by west to south in about 24 hours, tho barometer falling further in the meantime; expect ekies dull to overcast and rain generally, heavy on the West Coast and in the southern districts, with snow following on tho higher, levels-; seas on all the western coast.
