Trocra ha* returned from Racecourse Hill, and started easy work yesterday : morning. Glennnnan and Canute hare been sold to Australian buyors. Tho former is booked to leave for Sydney to-doy, while Glenfinnau will bo taken over next week. Mr D. Mitchell, who was caretaker at the Riocarton Racecourse for some years, and resigned a few months ago, has accepted a position as gardener to the Hamilton Beautifying Association. Uβ leaves in a ferr days to tako up his r»ew duties. * A cable message from Sydney says that tho racehorso Cider, by Ayr Lad-die-y-Praleen, 4yrs, will bo sent to India on an attempt to win Iho King's Cup. Cider is a high-class perforator, and amongst th 6 races ho has won may bo mentioned tho A.J.O. Derby, the V.R.C.'s tf. B. Fisher Plato, tho V.A.T.C. St. Goorge Stakes, and tlio A.J.C. All-aged Stakes. At the social gathering in connexion with the Riccarton Trainers' Association on Tuesday evening, Mr Albert Cutts said that sportsmen generally would favour tho formation of a Now Zealand Trainers' Association. He considered that a earefully-solocied body of practical men would be able to _ give our Turf legislators many good ideas with regard to the management of Turf affairs. The four English-bred fillies recently imported by Mr TV*. H. E. Wanklyn arrived at Lvttelton ou Sunday, and are ao present quartered at R. Derrett's etable at Rfccarton. The quartet do not appear to have done more than usually well on tho way out, but another week or two should sco them greatly improved so far as appearances are concerned. The three-year-old Heather, by St. Denis—Bachelor's Button from Guidwife, bred by Mr J. B. Joel, is a dark chestnut in colour, and 1 a fine big upstanding filly- Heather -was not raced as a two-year-old, but was ! put into training during the present season. A brown two-year-old filly by i St. C., by Ladas, is a 1 beautifully-proportioned youngster, and i should earn a good deal of notoriety on the Turf before taking up stud duties. Lady Veles, a light chestnut filly, with, a white blaae, by Veles—Lady Bedcar, is a light-boned filly, but she has plenty of reach. Veles is by lsinglaes~-Velle-j da, by Robert the Devil—ldun, by Rosicracian. The last of the bunch, Bhobeon 11., is a two-year-old by Veles— Ballyhut, &nd is, perhaps, tho most attractive of the lot. She is a racy-looking ing youngster, and altogether is, a very nice filly. The importation of these fillies is the outcome of an arrangement between Mr George Palmer and Ht Wanklyn, and the former is responsible for tho purchaso of tho fillies. Both. Shebeen 11. and Lady Veles have start-, -ed in races, and wero m active worfc when purchased. Tho fillies are at proBent wearinc their summer coats,, and they aro allowed to run*ro the paddocks each day, but ehould soon become accustomed to their new conditions.
