NEW ZEALAND'S SYMPATHY

(rRSSS ASSOCIATION T*T.WRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 7. In tho House of Representatives this afternoon, tho Right Hon. W. F. Massey intimated that ho had, on hearing of the death of Mr Joseph Chamberlain, sent a cablegram to Mrs Chamberlain, condoling with her on tho death of her distinguished husband, and had that day received a reply, tendering the thanks of the family for tho sympathy shown, by tho people of tho Dominion. On behalf of his sido of tho House, Sir Joseph Ward endorsed the sentiments expressed in tho Prime- Minister's cablegram, and proceeded to culogißo the life-work of*Mr Chamberlain, whom he described as one of the greatest authorities on the subject of local government, on the wider subject of Imperialism, and as one of the greatest of Englishmen. On the motion "of the Prime- Minister the cablegrams were entered in tho Journals of the House. (PBKSS ASSOCIATION TET.EGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 7. In reply to a telegram sent by the Prime Minister to Mrs Chamberlain, expressing sympathy'with her in the bereavement suffered through tho death of her husband, the lato Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain, : tho following cablo message hds been received by Mr Massoy:-T-"1 thank tho New Zealand Government and people from ray heart for their eympathyT—Mary Chamberlain."
