STRANDING OF A BARQUE.

CHDUBT RETURNS MASTER'S CERTIFICATE. (rjRBSS ASSOCIATION TBLEGKAM.) / AUCKL/IND, July 7. The Court of Enquiry into the stranding of tho barque Joseph Craig has found that the master acted unwisely in attempting to enter tho port at night, under the weather conditions existing, but it did not feel justified in holding that t.%s amounted to wrongful default, as would entitle the Court to deal with his certificate under Section 238 B. Tho evidence went to show that the stranding was due entirely to a sudden "rain squall, which caused tho vessel suddenly to grip to windward, and which obscured the harbour lights ii.the channel- The master's certificate was returned.
