PURE MILK SUPPLY.

tO THE EDITOR OF "THE TBESS. Sir—l was exceedingly interested in a letter which appeared in your issue tf theTtfrkst. on above subject, signed "Medicus." From the description K £eT in "The Press" of the model dairy experiment which is boing carried out vi Sumner by private enterprise, it would appear that this little seaside reSb can now pride itself on having what would appear to bo the most up-to-dato milk supply in the Dominion and,the proprietor deserves the thanks, not only of Sumner, but Chnstchurch as a whole, in setting an example for the propel handling of what is decidedly our most important food product. As • "Medicus" so aptly puts it,-- the. inauguration of a supply of 'guaranteed pure milk must undoubtedly put Sumner a long way. ahead of any other health resort as a desirable place to reside in, and especially for children. I am of opinion that the suggestion made by "Medicus" that "the Health Authorities make a careful analysis of milk from the dairy referred to, and compare same with samples taken indiscriminately from the milk supply of the city and suburbs," is a "most excellent one and should forthwith be carried out. Considering the lose of life from and the heavy expenditure incurred in combating that dread disease tuberculosis, it behoves the public and the authorities to wake up and strike at what is nowadays Accepted as the root of the evil, viz., our milk supply.— oura, c F A THER OF FIVE.
