THEATRE ROYAL.
Tn the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening the George Willoughbv Dramatic Company staged Walter Melville's melodrama, "The Bad Girl of the Family," which was performed hero i-i 1911. Owing to an unfortunate indisposition on the part of Mias Pearl Smith, who was cast for the character part of Gladys Erskiue, several adjustments had to be made in the programme at short notice, and this necessarily had a somewhat disconcerting effect upon tho general quality of thi- presentation of tho drama. Miss Pearl Helrarich took tho part vacated b.* Miss Pearl Smith, bub, naturally, with tho short notice, could not do tho part full justice* Miss Mary Marler replaced Miss Heltnrieh as Honor Moore, aud Miss Terry'took the part of Mrs. Moore. In view of these changes, and the difficulties thereby confronting the company, it would ba a little unfair to extend a seveie criticism to the performance. The oiece was well enough staged, and the general tonor of the play well interpreted, although inclined at times to become of too farcical a nature. Mr Cjyri] Mackay, in the part of the dashing Lieut. Richard Marsh, 8.N., appeared to distinct advantage, and made the most of tho exciting incidents as they followed one another in quick succession. Harry Gordon was taken by Mr Vivian Edwards, Lord Erskino by Mr Herbert Leigh, with much success, Inspector Lawrenie by Mr Ronald Riley, tho Vicar by Mr. Bruce Jsewham, and all worked well for the success of the piece. As "The Bad Girl" hereeif, 3liss Nellie Fergusson appeared to advantage at all stages. The piece will Bo presented again this evening.
