FIRE ON EARL OF SEAFIEL D'S ESTATE.
Under date of May Ist, our London correspondent writes:—News has come through from Scotland of the destruction by fire of a tract of woods a mile long and half a mile broad, on the estate of the Earl of Seafield, at Strathspey. This was a section of the immense area planted by the seventh Earl. The eighth Earl planted in his lifetime more than six million trees, and the extensive pine forests of the Spay Valley form a very valuable part of the estate. Altogether Lord rieafield's woodland possessions extend over sixty thousand acres, and their fame is world-wide.
