THE INTER-ISLAND MATCH.
A WEST COAST GRIEVANCE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION IELEGKAM.) WESTPORT, June 7. Local footballers are waiting with interest to 6eo the selection of tho South Island team for tho Inter-island match and Australian tour, in tho hope that some more consideration will bo given them this year than iv the past, seeing that Duller last year won all its representative* matches, which included the defeat of Marlborough for tho Seddon Shield. West Coast (twice), and Canterbury. Four of tho players, Green ard .\t?hison (backs) ard Fisher and. Calloßhan (forwards), are looked upon as spe.iaJy entitled to confederation, and, if chosen, are likely to worthily represent tho South Island and the Dominion. The complaint that local footballers make is that in tho past the selectors hayo not been really alive to the distinction between tho West Coast "Union, which includes Grey, Rcefton, and Bokitika as the main centres, and Duller Union in tho Nelson province, and which has as its principal centres Westport and tho coal-mining townships.
