FIRES.
OUTBRExIK AT TEMUKA,
At nine o'clock last evening a fire broke out in the factory D. McInnes, builder, at Temuka, and a quantity of machinery waa damaged. A fairly large amount of timber was saved, and owing to the efforts of the Fire Brigado the firo was prevented from spreading to the timber stack. The building was gutted. The insurance on the factory was £450 in the Now Zealand office.

A two-_toried shop and dwelling at Petone, was badly damaged by fire last evening The Fire Brigade did good work in the face of a strong northerly wind. building was iu-Uiod in tho State office for £60., and the furniture and stock for £100 in the Queensland office. • Early this morning a boardini_house in Petone, occupied by Mrs Wilroa, was gutted. Tho bui'.ding was insured for £175 in tho State office, and the furniture for £100 in tho Commercial Union office. DUNTEDIN, Juno 1. Advice from Pombroko states that Mr P. R. Sargood's fino homestead on the shores of Lako Wanaka was completely, destroyed by fire early this morning. Only a fow pieces of furuiture were saved. GORE. June 1.
A flevon--roo*T>ed house at West Gore. 1 owned by David Lyttlo. and occupied by jW. Adcock. was destroyed by fire early on Sunday morning. Tho house wan insurer! for £300 in the Victoria Company, and the fnrniture for.£loo in the Northern Company.
