At tho Volunteer _ire Brigado eocial on Friday the Grand March was a very effective-spectacle. It was led off by Superintendent and.Mrs .Healings, and included members of visiting brigades from Southbrook, Rangioia, Lyttelton, New Brighton, and Addington. About--150 couples joined in the dancing: In the progressive euchre competition Mrs C. Harper and Mrs J. A. Mealihgs were the prize-winners, also Messrs It. Rinaldi and A. T. "lellowlees. The band, with Miss Humphries as pianist,and Messrs A. Breach (violin>, and \V. j Knignt (cornet), was much praised. * [
GREENPARK. On. Friday evening a valedictory social was tendered by the residents of Greonpark, in the local schoolroom; to Mr and Mrs H. Bins and family, who ore leaving Greenp_rk after a residence of ten years to take up their abode in tho Tai Tapu district. Mr F. Hubbard presided over a large attendance. Tho evening's entertainment consisted of dancing, -interspersed with musical items and recitations, rendered -by ?desdames G. Everest, i_. Yarr. and W. Lewis. Misses M. Everest and Plum- • ridge, and Messrs Hansen; Oram, A. Schroodcr, Silcoek, and W. Kimber. After supper, tho chairman voiced tho esteem felt by the residents of the district for Mr and 'Mrs Bing and family, and the general regret at their departure, and as a souvenir of good-fellow-ship, presented Mrs Bing with a silver teapot, and Mr Bing with a walkingstick. Mr and Mrs Bing returned thanks. Tho Rev. F. B. Redgrave, Vicar of Liricoln-Greenjwirk parish, also testified to the work of the guests of the evening.
TEMUKA. Mr and Mrs P. Coira, old residents of Temuka,' are about to take up their residence in Wellington. On Friday the employees of Mrs Coira met-at Mrs Beri's, and spent an enjoyable evening in progressive euchre and musical items. During the evening Miss Beri,.on behalf of the employees, presented Mrs Coira with two handsome upholstered Morris armchairs for herself and Mr Coira. Mr and Mrs Coira feelingly responded. The annual concert of the ' Presbyterian _Snnday-_chooi was held on Friday evening, the Dominion Theatre being well filled. A lengthy programme of musical items, by children and adults, lasted three hours: and was much enjoyed. Supper was served to all present. During the evening, the Rev. C. Macdonald, on behalf of the parishioners, presented Mrs D. Shaw with a silver tea service, Mr I>. Shaw with a Morris armchair, and Miss Myrtle Shaw with a gold brooch. The Shaw family* are leaving the district,"and their valued services to the Church were warmly commented urton by Mr Macdonald..
