ASHBURTON MARKET REPORT.
Wheat—Tlie amount of business as between grower and merchant has now reached small proportions, the bulk of the grain having apparently now changed hands. Deliveries of lines recently sold are now in course, and this comprises the hulk of what is now on the move. Values remain firm at practically the prices which have ruled for the past few weeks, viz.:—s.s. Tuscan, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; Hunters, 3s 9d; Pearl, 3s lOd; whole fowl wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 4d—all on trucks country stations.
Oats—The market is very dull, and even for top quality A grade, buyers will only purchase at prices quoted. For B grade and inferior, the demand is very slack. Values may he quoted at: —Is Sd for A grade, to "is B'd for extra choice lots; Is 6sd to Is 7d for B
grade; inferior and damaged Is Gd; Duns. Is 8d for heavy, good-coloured samples, Is 6d to ls>7d for lower grade lots; Danish, Is 4d to Is 5d —all prices on rail country stations.
Chaff —The value of prime quality remains at 4os to 47s Gd. while inferior lines are not wanted. The demand is only limited.
