A TERRIBLE SHOCK.
VESSEL CUT IN TWO. There must have been a terrible shock when the collision occurred. The Empress of Ireland is believed to have been cut in two. At the earliest dawn, boats were seen hovering over the spot of the collision, but there was no sign of en aw steamer. The Empress of Ireland carried many Canadian members of the Salvation Aimy to attend the Salvation Army Conference in London, including most of the head officials.
