POIGNANT SCENES.
ANXIOUS CROWDS AWAIT NEWS. ALTERNATING HOPES AND FEARS. LONDON, ilay 30. There were poignant scenes in London, hysterically anxious crowds besieging the Canadian-Pacific Company's Loudon office. It was a day of alternating hopes and fears. The dearth of news, especially the absence of the survivors' names, intensified the depression. Many of those waiting for news determined upon an all-night v'gil. Tho majority were interested in the fate of members of the crew. There were numerous theatrical artists among the crowd, who despairingly enquired as to Laurence Jrr_ig'_ fate. The offices of the company at Liverpool continued to ha surround_d t_3 a late Lour with a griof-_trickerj crowd of u-omo.n aurX children, while men, stoically -pecc'hle-s, struggled to obtain a gUapae of the latest messages at tho windows.
