PRIME MINISTER AT PAEROA.
AN ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION,
(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") ' PAEROA. April 30. The Prim© Minister addressed a orowded and enthusiastic public meeting in the Criterion Theatre this evening. Among those on the platform was Air J. Clark, who has been selected as tho candidate to contest the Ohinemuri seat in the Reform Party's interest at the next election. Air Alassey had an excellent hearing, and at th© conclusion of his speech a motion expressing thanks to Alr,Massey and confidence in the Government was moved, Tho following amendment was pro-posed-:—"That this meeting thanks Mr Alnssey for' his address and expresses its 'continued confidence in Mr Poland as our representative." _ The amendment. was lost, only some eight or nine hands being held up in favour of it. The motion was- carried by an overwhelming majority, . amidst loud plause.
