MEDICAL SUPPLIES.
A STATEMENT DENIED,
(SPECIAL TO "THE PP.ESS.") WELLINGTON. April 30. The authorities here deny the statements telegraphed from Christchurch that thoy aro to blairjo for the shortage of medical supplies for the Kowai camp, and especially the story that applications for more stores have been mado at least eight times but have had no effect. The following are the facts: — On, March 27th the following telegram was sent to Christchurch: — "Please wire number of surgical haversacks and medicine chests required for Canterbury district, specifying number required for Nelson." The reply came back: —"Surgical haversacks, one Nelson, nine 'Christchurch; medicine chests, one Nelson, four Christchurch.' Only the one application was received, and the supplies wero sent south as early as April 4th. Complaint was also made regarding the- contents of the haversacks and chests. Regarding this matter, it is stated that the contents wero prepared under the supeivision of tho -«yincipal medical officers.
