CHRISTCHURCH LADIES' CLUB.

Tho Christchurch Amateur S-rimming and Life-saving Club held its first competition for the Chanipionrhip Cup, preeented by lire A. Boyle, president oi the club, at the T*nt v Baths on Tuesday. There was a, splendid entry, and competition was very keen, while a good number of spectators (fathered to sco tho events, amongst whom were Mrs uoyle, Mrs "Wigia-m, and Mrs Holland. Mr G. E. Bill Eon acted as judge. Th« results were: — 100 yds SCRATCH RACE— Miss Eade, 10 points, 1; Miss Brar.don. 8 points, 2; Mrs Roscoe, 6 points, 3; its Buchanan, 4 points, 4; Miss E. Tbomas, 2 points, 5; Mrs Johneon, 2 points, fi. A very clc**? finish. M.es Brandon gave Miss Eade- a good go for firet place, and finished a very close second. Time, imin 37eec. Misa Brandon ha-s the- honour of being the club champ .on, and so holds the cup for the ensuing twelve months, when it will bo competed ior again.
