• i ST. JOHN'S, CHEVIOT. \ Tho annual meeting of the parish-! ioners of St. John's, Cheviot, took place on Wednesday. There was a large attendance. Tne report and balance-sheet were) commented on as being tho most credit-j sable since tho parish had been formed. J The credit balanco was L 34. The lato j bazaar, in addition to this. had brought j in a net sum of £Il'o'. Tho Vicar reported that tho vr&try had feet aside the sum of ,£6o towards tho extinction ' of tho debt, the balance being required j to meet the usual heavy working expenses—repair.*., interest, insurance, etc. Thiriug tho IS mouths that the! Rev. A. J. S. Sea ton has been Vicar, j tho church debt has been reduced from £3ai to £198. Those present at tho meeting expressed in kindly terms their* sorrow at 'the approaching departure j o;-" the Vicar to Kaikoura. j Tho following officers wero eloetod:— j Clergyman's, warden. Mr A.
