Ho was welcomed by a large gathering ot the public, and was the guest ©f tho citizens at & complimentary dinner. At,,tbe conclusion of the dinner some speeches were made, and the DeputyMayor, who presided, presented Mis* Massey, whose birthday It happened to be. with a very handsome gold bracelet. Later on. Mr Massey delivered an addiess at the Insh national concert, and then gave a political address in the other theatro before a very large audience. Mr Massey was subjected to a good deal of heckling from the extreme Socialistic section, but the meeting passed off, on the whole, very good liumouredly. It concluded with the carrying of a vote of thanks and confidence, which was opposed by the Red Fed. section of the audience. A prominent Liberal attempted to speak, but the meeting declined to give kiin a hearing
