At the last meeting of the Kowai County Council, Mr Hale (chairman), Crs. Rowe, McLean, and Mathers were I present. Leave of absence was granted | Crs. Hanna and Stead for the meeting. The chairman and Cr. McLean reported the result of an interview with Mr H. James relative to the Council purchasing Lot 15, etc., for a gravel pit, and road widening purposes. On tho motion of Cr. Rowe, seconded by Cr. Mathers, the matter was loft in the hands of Cr. McLean and the Surveyor to endeavour to complete the purchase of half an acre. It was reported that tho new fence to be erected at the widening of the north road, north of the Lower Ashley bridge, was in hand. Tho surveyor was instructed to notify tho tenant of the Drainage Board Reserve of the necessity of trimming back tho overhanging willows, which formed the boundary fence of tho reserve. Correspondence was received from Messrs Helmore and van Asch 'relating to the condition of Fox's Creek through the property of Weir's trustees at Sefton. Cr. McLean proposed, and Cr. Rowe seconded : '"That steps be taken to have the creek cleared of obstructions, and that the surveyor serve the required notices to that effect." On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to invite tenders, returnable at next meeting, for a supply of pit shingle for shingling the North road from the Amberley town boundary to Leithfield. Mr John Mathers was granted permission to lay a 4-inch pipe across the road at Saltwater Creek. Several minor repairs were ordered to be effected. Receipts for the month amounted to £1455.
