McLellan (Lysaght), Wellington; Priest and Holgate, Timaru; Brown and Stewart, Auckland; John Edmond, Dunedin; ' Mrs G. J. Moore, Oamaru; Briscoe and I Co., Dunedin; and Joseph Nathan and Co.. Wellington. I The name of Mrs Ross was omitted ' from the published. list of those who sent wreaths. Briscoe and Co.. writing to Ashby, Bergh. and Co., say they could not let the opportunity go past without sending an official memorandum to express their very deep regret at the loss the community has sus- « tamed as a whole, and the j hardware trade in particular, in ; tho death of their old and respected : friend and client, Mr E. C. Ashby. ! Their firm had been closely connected with him for about half a century, and their governing directors and *heir whole board were deeply grieved at Mr Ashby's decease. They expressed their sympathy to Ashby, Bergh and Co.'s directors" in a business way, and they desired it to be passed along to Mr Ashby's relatives and friends. The loss had been sustained of one who had not only proved himself on every occasion to be a genuine and generous business man. but also one who had appealed to them all in a personal way as a eourj teous. kindly, charitable gentleman, i and a very dear friend.'
