WELLINGTON TALLY CLERKS'

DISPUTE.

(press associatiox TELEGRAM.)

WELLINGTON, March 17. Some surprise was expressed at today's sitting of the Conciliation Council, when the dispute between the shipowners and the Wellngton Tally Clerks' Union came on. It had been generally understood that the employers had agreed to the demands of the union with the exception of the wages and preference clauses. Mr Pryor announced that the shipowners did not intend to go further, and would oppose-the clerks right through. The dispute now goes to the Arbitration Court.*
