THE FUNERAL.

The funeral of the late Mr E. C. Ashby took place yesterday, the cortege leaving his residence for the Linwood cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. Janiieson, W. H. Cheeseman, \V. Stewart, W. R. Heney. G. Lewis, and A. F. Drayton. Tho burial service was conducted by tho Rev. C. H. Laws, B.A. Tho coffin was covered with wreaths, sent hy the CanterburyBowling Club. Mr R. Buchanan and family, the Canterbury Masonic Lodge, the Zoalandia Soap and Candle Company, tho staff of Messrs Ashby, Bergh and Co., Ltd., Mr G. Gerard, Mr and Mrs W. Morley, Mr A. R. Craddock, the members of th© Federal Club, the Christchurch Swimming Club, Mr and Mrs F. Logic, Mason, Struthers and Co., Mrs M. McNeely and Mrs Gatherer, Mr and Mrs A. J. Sutcliffe. Mr Andrew Swanston, Mr J. S. Guthrie, the directors of Ashby, Bergh and Co., Ltd., Mr W. B.
