SATURDAY'S PA BADES
A half-day parade of the Ist (Canterbury) Regiment, under Major Murphy, was hold on Saturday. The regiment, 238 strong, marched from tho drilkhed to the Burnsido road in full marching kit, and there various field exercises were gone, through. For the first time, the new system of double companies was worked, A and B, C and D, E and F, and U and H companies being bracketed together. Major Stewart took up his duties as second in command of the regiment, Captain Burn was adjutant, and the company commanders were: —Major Rowe, Lieut. D. 0 bmith, Lieut. Uresson, and Lieut. Stevenson. The regiment left the King Edward Barracks'at 1>.30 p.m., and marched to Mr Boag's property, kindly lent for the purpose. The men arrive* , , back at vno barracks at 5.30. The march back was quite a good one. A lot ot route marching by companies will be indulged in nest week, and on March l>Bth another halt-day parade oi the regiment will be hold, when limber attack practice will bo tho order of the day. A parade of tlie Senior Cadets was also hold on Saturday. The Cadets, '2?J5 strong, under Captain l''innis. nuirclicd from the King Kdward Barracks to Hapley Park, whore ceremonial and extended drill was indulged in in view of Sir Inn Hamilton V visit. Prior to leaving the King Kdward Barracks the troops were inspected by the Oftici-r Commanding the District.
