PICNICS.

KAIAPOI MILLS EMPLOYEES. The annual picnic of the employees of the Kaiapoi Woollen Mills was held in the Wainswa Domain, Little River, on Saturday, about 600 people being present. The morning waa devoted to popular pastimes, and in the afternoon a sports programme was got off, the officials being—Judges, Messrs T. L. Leithead, A. Purdie, C. H. Hoskin, , G. Templeton, and G. A. Ellen; starters, Messrs T. Martin and H. Ellen; secretary, Mr A. F. Rollinaon. Results: — 100 yds Handicap— J. Saunderson 1, P. Drabble 2. Hop, Step, and Jump—W. Jones 1, J. Brown 2. Ladies' Race—Mies Knight 1, Miss 11. Orchard 2. Married Men's Race—F. Barnes 1, J. Murphy 0. Single Ladies' Race—Miss D. McAllister 1, Miss Selwood 2. Tug of War—Spinners beat Carders: Finishers beat Woolhands. In the final Finishers beat Spinners, the winning team being: J. Brown, G. Green. A. Richards, S. Rinaldi, F. Barnes, and W. Templeton. 120 yds Handicap—E. Lonergan 1, L. Pearoe 2. I Thread the Needle Race—T. Drabble 1, J. Taylor 2. Boys' Rac«, under 14— H. Miller 1, E. Becks 2. 120 yds Open—L. Pearce 1, H. Joselin 2. Miss Brown, of the Christcburch Collegiate Ladies' School, and her pupile, held a picnic at Diamond Harbour on Saturday.
