ORGAN- RECITAL.

In the presence of a very good audience, last night's recital at His Majesty's .was dedicated exclusively to Compositions by Mendelssohn. There appeared for ,the first time the beaut'ful overture to the ''Midsummer Night's IXream." At every new hearing one "wonders' again how such a thing can have-been evolved, this astounding production by. a mere boy, -with the brain, the imagination, and the sure touch in the treatment of his fanciful subject, rthe' equal of the ripe master, toying with all the resources of his craft. , It is said that again at present such a boy-wonder in music line arisen. "We shall accept the claim when he has given the world some such work as this. The overture was played by . Dr. Bradshaw very finely, indeed, and t with that • faultless virtuosity which ! was demonstrated even to a hipher ! degree in the fine "Variations Seriej uses" transcribed from the Pianoforte. I The first of the Organ Sonatas in F ! minor, with the striking Recitative } movement and the splendid .Finale ; opener] the programme, which also in- | eluded four of the "Songs "Without I Words." the first in B" minor unde- | servedly neglected; the dnet, "Oh I Wert Thou- in the Cauld Blast," and j the noble "'Cornelids ilarch," coni eluded an excellent recital.
