C. A. Newman and B. J. Finnegan, of tho Christchurcb postal 6taiT, journeyed fo Timaru on Priday to play Leslie and Kiseel, (holders of the Rose Memorial gold medals) on the Kia To a green. The visitors proved to bo a combination, and rather more than held their own in tho last two games. Tho conditions were—two games of 21 heads, nnd ehould each side win one game a third gam* of ,16 heads to be played. Tho first pamo went to the local pair by 30 to 21. Finnegan scored G on the first and fifth heado, and tour on the 10th head, mado his score 18 to Kissel's 9. The latter played well, but got level on tho 17th head, end went right on and won as above. , Tho second game wan evenly contested till tho last five heads, when the Christchurch pair went right away and won by 27 to 12. The third game saw the vieitora playing well, but they stopped on 13. Kissel went from 3 to 8, but Finnegan then drew two beautiful shots, making Kia.'ol 7 down and two heads to go. .The 15th head looked well .for tho local pair, hut Finnegan got the ehot, and a nice position. Kissel tried to burn the head, but missed, and, being 8 down, the last head wa» was not played. ■ The visitors were heartily congratulated on their win by President Watson, and were piven a hearty round of cheers by the Kia Toa meh» on leaving. ASHBURTON v. DUNSANDEL. The annual fonr-rink match between tie Ashburton and Duns&ndel Bowling Club» was played on the Ashburton green on Saturday, and resulted in an easy victory for Aehburton by 122 points to 56.
