It is understood that a strong endeavour is to be made to induce Dr. W.U McDowell to contest the Auckland City Central seat against Mr A. E. Glover, M.P. 3 at the general election. it is authoritatively stated in Auckland that Mr W. H. Murray, who last election contested Grey Lynn in the Reform party's interests, will again be a candidate for that seat at the forthcoming elections. Mr John Bollard. M.P. for Eden, announces that he will again be a candidate for the eeat at the coming election. •■• A keen contest is expected in the "Waitemata seat next December. At least five candidates are expected to enter the field. Messrs W. J. Napier, W. Wallace, and A. Harris are certain candidates, and -Messrs E. W. Alison and L. R. At a meeting of delegates from different parts of the electorate held here last night, Mr W. H. Hawkins, exM.P., was unanimously selected as the Progressive Liberal Party's candidate at the coming general election.
