SAFES BLOWN OPEN.

(I'RESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 17. Between closing hour last night and j 7 o'clock this morning, Tronwith Bros.' j boot ;md shoe factory, and It. Walton ai.d Co.'s : 'Lion" Factory, in Wakefield j>trwt, were burglariously entered. In both premises the. saie« were blown open, and from Trr-mvithY, the sum of £4 was stolen. When the employees of the factories arrived this- morning, it was found ihat the front doors of both premises were frrred. Tho safes had been almost completely wrecked, evidently by the \i.se of powerful explosives. Heaps of packing and other material showed that precautions had been taken to deaden the soui.d of tbe e_I olosion, but the charpes in each case had been made sufficiently strong to prevent any chance of failure.
