CHRISTCHURCH FIRE BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING

Tho Christchurch Fire Board met yesterday afternoon. -Present —Messrs A. L. Parsons (chairman), H. R. Ruabridge, A. Williams, H. Holland, W. B. Mackenzie, P. F. Warner (Superintendent), and C. J. Treleaven (secretary).

The report of the Beard in committee which was adopted, recommended that permission be granted to Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd., to erect a temporary board, in connexion with their vigilant' fire alarm system, at the fire station, subject to the approval of the Superintendent, and provided that any damage done to the building be repaired. The Superintendent had interviewed" the manager of the D.I.C. n regard to their fire alarm installation, and it had been arranged to riave it properly adjusted so as to prevent further false alarms. Tho manager of tho Opera House had been asked to notify tho brigade at once in the event of an outbreak of fire in future. The inspection of the brigade by Inspector Hugo was held on Thursday evening, everything being satisfactory. It was decided that firemen on duty at theatres and other places of amusement should be insured against accidents. . • .

In accordance with the notice received from the Department of Internal Affairs regarding insurance returns, it was decided to advertise early in May, drawing tho attention of all persons negotiating insurances on behalf of companies outside of Xew Zealand to the Act. The financial statement showed a credit balance of iTiO2 Os 2d. Accounts amounting to £443 ls 4-d were passed for payment. It was decided that the City Council's account for electrical installation, amounting to £365 18s 10d, passed in November last, be paid prior +o March 31st, and to pay the annual subsidy of £12 12s to tho Brigade Social Club.
