Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary and forecn.t at 5 p.m. yesterday: — Moderate to strong westerly winds have predominated, with fair to cloudy weather generally, but gloomy conditions are reported this evening in many parts of the country. Tho barometer has been unsteady. Present indications are for strong westerly winds, changing by south to south-easterly; weather unsettled and squally for a short time, as a 6torm area appears to be developing in front of on advancing anti-cyclone.
