PRESENT DAY FASHIONS.
"SHOCKING AXD DISGRACEFUL." (By Cable.—Pres. Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, March oThe Australasian Women's Conference has resolved that all members of the Association should refrain from adopting the prevailing fashion of indecorous attire. The mover made a speech full of *_rm condemnation of prevailing fashions. She said that it was dreadful to see in trams and trains women who had lost all sense of decency and modesty. iShe was surprised that the Government had not taken action. If the 'unfortunate" class of women wore such costumes, the police would arrest them. It degrading to respectable women to see others wearing insufficient clothing to cover tho body. Sho saw a window display of tango underskirts being viewed by more men than women. A delegate interjected, "Like their cheek!" Another speaker nrged women to take action to prevent such displays of indecency, which were shocking and disgraceful.
