It is be- - licved that the fruit and other crops at Rakahanga and Matiihiki suffered considerably. Mountainous sea,, swamped Ra_«** hanga and Manihila. Tho raXnt* were compelled to take to a boat untu the 6torm subsided. The hurricane. did considerable damage to the crops. The islands which lie very low were completely submerged. Aitutaki Island was in the track of the 6tom. but sustained less damage. An unnamed schooner was knows "' to be in tho track of the hurricane. - Sho has not since been reported, ft**u* ;* . it is feared, went down. .* * -
