PLANS IN CHRISTCHURCH.

On arrival in Christchurch Earl Grey was quietly welcomed by the ActingMayor, Mr H. B. Sorensen, on behalf of the city, but in answer to his invitation said that ho would bo unable, on account of his health, to tako part in any public ceremonial.

The party was met by Captain Eastwood, A.D.C. to tho Governor, and conducted to the residence of Mr and Mrs Arthur Rhodes, whoso guests the Earl and Countess are to be in this city.

To-day Earl Grey will visit the Central Dairy Factory and tho Belfast Freezing Works, where Sir Georgo Clifford will entertain the party to luncheon.

To-morrow Mr John Grigg, of Longbeach, will be visited, and on Saturday the Lincoln Agricultural College will _•_ inspected.

The Earl and Countess will leave for Wellington on Saturday evening.
