.The Hon. James Allen, Minister of Education and Finance, arrived from the South kit evening, and will probably be staying in Christchurch till Saturday night, when he leaves for Wellington. To-day the Minister will motor to Akaroa for the purpose of • opening an extension of the District r Hi£h School there, and tomorrow will probably inspect several 6ites proposed iocally for schools. James Allen, in reply to queries put on his journey North today, stated: —'There are three fresh ataS appointments to be mado, but I cannot disclose the names at present. Major Richardson and Major Gardner will return at the end of tho y«ar." 'Questioned as to the Ministerial candidate for the Dunedin South constituency, Mr Allen said that Ministers fh'd not appoint candidates, but they wt the district to find a suitable candidate, and would help the approved candidate as far as they could. At present, however, no definite arrangement had been come to about this seat, but there would be one in good time.
