„ _» —: NEW ZEALAND'S TRAINING SHIP. (SPRCIAI, TO •'THE J>JtESS.") WELLINGTON; February 23. H.M.S. Philomel, which is to be used as a training ship in connexion with the New Zealand naval scheme, has not yet beon handed over by the Imperial Government, but it is expected that arrangements will be completed shortly. The Hon. James Alien (Minister of Defence) informed a reporter to-day that the Imperial Government was provide ing a crow for the Philomel, which would include the necessary instructional staff. The Government would thus he in a position to call for recruits as soon as the ship had been handed over, and it had conferred with its naval adviser, who will be the officer in command of the Philomel.
