AUCKLAND SENTENCES.
(PRES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM,). AUCKLAND, February 23. Albert Mcllveen and Harry Wilson, two longnsentence prisoners who attempted to escape from Auckland gaol by violently assaulting a. warder and his assistant, were sentenced each to three years' imprisonment, dating from expiry" of the existing sentences. George Harris, for pocket-picking jit Whangarei races, was ordered to be oetained for two years for reformative treatment. Edward Rowland, who was found guilty of theft,-was admitted to probation for a period of two years, on the special condition that he refrained from liquor. James McGovern, a greaser from the steamer Sussex:, was found not guilty of theft. A young Croatian, Steve Jurakovich, who was found guilty of carnal' knowledge, was admitted to probation for a period of twelve months. His Honour pointed out that prisoner bore a good character. He was engaged to the girl at the time, and had since .married her, and they were living happily together.
