MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd
•"Mr Recce's now screw steamer Moa was launched on Saturday, at 4 p.m.. On the signal being given, she glided gently into th© wattsr. Mrs llcece having gone through tho usual formalities and named her, the Moa, amidst the acclamations ■ of the persons assembled, was towed up to town by the Gazelle. She -was gaily dressed with flags for the occasion, and promises to prove a useful boat for the river trade. Sho was brought out in tho Zealandia, and is 81ft in length, breadth of beam 184 ft. nominal horse-power 25, capable of working up to 60. She will be brought alongside for tho purposo of having her engine and boilor put in; after which no timo will lo lost in getting her ready for sea." (Tho Moa was recently burnt off "Wanganui Heads.)
