THE WAITAKI SEAT.
(SPECUL TO "THE PRESS.") WAIMATE, October 29. The "Waimate Advertiser" to-night states that Mr F. H. Smith, M.P., wishes to intimate to his supporters that he will not again contest the Waitaki seat, as it is too far from his residence, the nearest point of the electorate being seventy mile*« away.
A requisition is in course of signature asking Mr Norton Francis, ex-Mayor of Waimate, to contest the seat in tho Government interest.
