PLIGHT OF THEATRICAL COMPANIES.
It was pointed out to a "Star reporter this morning by Mr Bart Royle, manager for J. C. Williamson Co., that a persistence of strike conditions will bo a serious matter for the big theatrical firms, and for his firm in particular. J. C. Williamson Co. have at present threo big companies touring New Zealand. Genee is at Wellington, and is scheduled to leave for Christchurch on November Ist.-"The Quaker Girl" Company is at Dunedin, with scenery for only the one piece, the rest of the scenery being at Wellington; and the Julius Knight Company, now at Auckland, is booked to leave for Sydney on November 10th. If these three Companies are stuck up in New Zealand, it will mean, Mr Royle says, a loss of £800 a day tor the J. C. Williamson Company.
