HIGH-HANDED ACTION OF THE STRIKERS.
(spF-rur. to "t-b paws.' ) WELLINGTON. October 29. Another cxamplo of the high-handed action on th© part of the wharflabourers on striko was furnished today. Mr S. Waddell. the Hon. J. D. Ormonde trainor, had received an assurance from some person in authority amongst tho strikers that bo would be abio to ship nine racehorses by to-' night's steamer for Lyttelton. When tho horses wero brought in from Trentham, however, they were not allowed to pass over tho wharf. Mr Waddell was coolly informed by th© strikeleaders that they had changed their minds, and that he must take his horses back to Trentham. This, having no other alternative, he did, and other owners find themselves in the same difficulty as Mr Ormond. Mr,GHuntor has two horses held up, Mr
W J. Douglas has one. One of the horses denied the right of passage is Biiss, a well-hacked entrant in the Stewards' Handicap. (PBXSS ASSOCTATJON TELKGBAM.) WELLINGTON, October 29. Forty-nine racehorses intended for the New Zealand Cup Meeting ar© held up at Trentham. An attempt to land Sir Daniel from the Ulimaroa to-day had to be abandoned. /
