Bates, Government Meteorologist, eujiplie-d the following weatlwr summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday: — An improvement in woather conditions was reported on the East Coaet this morning, but cold, showery and changeable weather has prevailed. The atmosphoric pressure is below norma!, but i 3 higher than yesterday. Present indications ar 0 for westerly winds, etrong to gale, generally; equally and showery weather, with ho&vy rain, on the West Coast and in the southern districts. Tho barometer will probably rise- temporarily ia the South, but fall again soon for a westerly storm.
