OTAGO UNIVERSITY vr CANTERBURY COLLEGJ2. ' The Otago University hockey team, which returned yesterday from Wellington, played Canterbury College at Sydenham Park yesterday. Considering that the College team was a scratch one and that four of its members had not played this season they gave an excellent showing. The teams were: —University (Blue), 1 R. Bannerman, Davies, Morrow, Smith, Siater, VV. Bannerman, Thompson, Andreae, McCiure, Ityburn, and Fitt; College (Red), Cook, Macdonald, Buston, Reid, Corbett, Porcer, Arnold, Young, Napier, Gough, and Mur/ay. The home team defended the northern goal and in the first ten minutes after the bully off pressed strongly. The Blues then attacked, but the Reds saved and play returned to the centre. College then took the ball well down, but Davies relieved with a fino hit the length ot the field. Shortly after Ryburn missed a chance, but Otago had / the Reds on the defensive for a Jong spell. Piay then went to the visitors' territory, a fast run down on the right ending in the ball being centred and Gough missing the shot at goal. The Blues retaliated and give and tako play followed, neither side having much advantage. College then attacked strenuously and from a melee in front of the Blue goal Arnold scored.
