ROAD BOARDS.

GERALDINE

The annual meeting of ratepayers in tho Geraldine was held on Monday, when tho following members of tho Board were present:— Messrs F. R- Flatman A. ?i 0 Scott Thomson. P. Mulvilull and J. Wharton and a small attendance of ratepayers. Mr Flatman presided and - read tho anntial report and " balance-sheet. THb report stated that tho -Near was begun with a credit balance of £2030 12s 6d, but owing to tho largo outlay occasiont-d by tho erection of new bridees, new dwelling* lor overseer, repairing damage by floods, etc.. tho Board was now £144 7s lid in debt to tho bank. The revemia amounted to £3832 12s 7d. and the. total expenditure to £8045 6s lid. •The rate levy for the coming year wns fixed at \d in the £. an increase of Jd. The chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which was seconded by Sir Shiers and carried. On the motion of Mr W. S. Muslin, it was agreed:—"That the Geraldine Road Board take steps to call c public meeting in Geraldine to discuss tha question of the amalgamation of the Goraldine and Mount Peel Road Districts with the object of forming a County Council." Mr Shiers moved an. amendment:^—"That the Temuka Road District be included," but thor© being no seconder the amendment lapsed. A vote of thanks to the members of tho Board and tho clerk for the efficient way in which they had curried oat their duties concluded the meeting.
