The troublo with tno slaughtermen has rapialy uevcioped. The i J areora men on Saturday, at a mass meeting, decid«u to support tho Smithlield men. At a mass meeting of aii Uio unions concerned yesterday afternoon, a resolution was passed:—"Tuat this meeting is entirely in accord with tho action taken by the butchers and assistants at SuuthfieJd freezing works, and urges them to stand firm. We call upon all unions to assist them in making this fight theirs also, and affirming that injury to one is an injury to all workers."
It was reported that nine of the free labourers had joined tho union since Friday. A subscription was taken up in the room in aid of P. C. Webb's fane,' and moro than double tho amount was subscribed. Tho money will bo forwarded to Chrislchurch. Further meetings will bo held to-day, and there is much anxiety as to tho position the watersidcrs will take.
