TUB VALLANCE COOK MISSION
Tlio first meeting of tho Vallance I Cook Mission Committee was held in 1 tho Durham street Church parlour on i l'riday evening, the Rev. S. Lawry in j the chair. There was a large att-end- | anoc, representatives being present from .ill tho Christchurcli Methodist circuits. Tho ltevs. C. H. Laws and IW. A. Sinclair were appointed joint ' secretaries. The following committees were set up:—Finance, Mr A. K. England, convener; Prayer and Personal Work, the Revs. H. E. Bellhouse and B. Mctson, conveners; Stewards, Mr £. lies, convener; Musical, tho Ilev. A. I\ T . Scotter, convener. An Executive Committee was appointed, consisting ol the officers «tnd convenors of committees, and Messrs F. Thompson, J; C. Prudhoe, E. W. Hall, and F. H. Christian. It was announced t—at tho mi&sion would be conducted by tho Rev. Vallance Cook, from England, beginning on June 21st., and ending on July 7th. It was unanimously agreed that tho mission be a united one and ba held in the Durham street Methodist Church. The Musical Committee was j instructed to arrange for a large '• choir, and to consider the appointment iof a • choir leader. The People's I Hymnary was adopted as the hymn book of the mission. The Finance Committee was empowered to obtain contributions to the amount of £50 from sympathisers towards the cost of tho mission, and a further guarantee fund of £50. It was decided to hold a j week's convention in each church prior Ito the mission, at which addresses will :be given on aspects of the higher life. Homo prayer meetings are to be esI tablished, and systematic house-tc-!he use visitation undertaken by the i various churches.
