A Press Association . message from Sydney states that Mr G. l>. Greenwood's horso Valido is to be offered at auction on Monday.
In tho telegraphed list of nominations for the North Otago Jockey Club's Winter Meeting tbonamo of Trireme was omitted from the Railway Handicap and the names Trireme and Champagne wore left out of the Grange Hack Handicap.
Tho Soult stallion Wairiki died in Auckland last week. Though he has not beon an unqualified success at tho stud, Wairiki, when racing, was one of tho best gallopers in New Zealand. Amongst his' victories may be mentioned the Great Northern Guineas, Great Northern Derby, and Auckland Cup, whilo ho finished second to Canteen in the memorable New Zealand Cup of 1903. In tEo following year Wairiki was sent to Australia to contest the Melbourne Cup, but ho fractured a shoulder during the race, which proved to be his last, for he was then retired to the stud. As a yearling, Wairiki was purchased by Mr S. Bradley for £76.
